Oct. 13 and 14th death valler

Postby AJ99 » August 24th, 2012, 2:11 pm

Ok so a few buddies and I are looking at running to death valley to check it out. We are looking at running guhler wash, checking out what is left of barker ranch, and just exploring. Not necesarily a crawiling trip, but im sure there will be some crawling. If anyone is interested chime in. We are not agaist anyone attending this run. Please be aware of what you and your rig are capable and comfortable with. But by all means no one left behind! All of the new people if you want to go let me know. We will help you through any situation that you arent comfortable with or even leave your rig at camp and jump in one of ours. We are just going out for a good time. No requirements, no banning, no nothing. Just going out and doing what we all love to do and hang out with good company!!!! :drinks: :salute: :kungfu:

I'd love to go back out there. You could stay up southpark canyon at briggs camp. There's 2 well maintained cabins there with running water that are first come first served. It's very cool just to check out all of the different gold mines in the area.

Ya we havent decided where exactly to stay yet. Barker Ranch was an idea but it burnt down a few yrs ago. This is going to be a family friendly trip as well. Travis we gladly have you out there with us if you can get off work. So far its me, two buddies with thier xjs, and possibly mikey with his xj if he gets his steering done by then. I want to hike up surprise canyon a bit too. Just to check that out. Seems pretty cool to me.

Oh just to let you know. Probably any jeep could make it on these trails. It's just a great camping trip. I'd definitely look into those cabins though. You can bring a 5 gal propane tank and have hot water and use the stove. I've got pictures of it archived somewhere on facebook.

no i dont talk to either one anymore.... im gonna be looking at all the trails around that area and doing research about them all. Hell i wouldnt mind even driving a bit farther to run at least one decent trail. Or hell even head back early sunday and run nightmare if its open (ill have to look into that cant remember when it closes) or even last chance... I just want to go out for a weekend and one of my buddies just got another xj after his burnt down. So he is the one pushing for a run. I just figured id ask if anyone else wants to go at all from here.

The weekend of Nov 10th is Panamint Valley Days. They will be running all the trails in the area, so that would be a very good way to find out where things are out there.

Trails in the Panamint Valley area include Isham Canyon, Fish Canyon, Goler Wash, South Park and Pleasant Canyon, and Stone Canyon. Stone Canyon has a great 3 level mine to explore, and you can drive to an old town site perched on top of the ridge. You can also drive on pavement to the old charcoal kilns. Plenty of good stuff for a nice weekend of exploring and wheeling.

BTW, I haven't posted it yet, but Goatfest in JV will Nov 18-19.

Defense mine trail / stone canyon is the best trail in the area.
