KOH stock class XJ build

A few of us have teamed up to build a car and race in the new Ultra4 stock class. The first race will be King of the Hammers on Sun Feb 5th. We've raced my XJ in KOH, helped out on Jeepspeed races, raced the Petty Cash XJ on road race courses, so it's a natural that we build an XJ stock class racer. If you have any interest helping out on the race team, working in the pits, helping out with building the car, or helping with pre-race prep, let me know. We could use a few more hands.
Got the XJ stripped down.

Cage getting built. We went with an exterior roof halo mostly to provide better headroom. An inside cage in an XJ is pretty close to your head when wearing a helmet. Plus, this is a rock racer as well as a desert racer so we can get away with a partial exo.

Our race is on Sunday Feb 5th. We'll tech on Fri, pre-run on Sat, and race on Sun.
It's going to be a full week for anyone who wants to and can take the whole week out there. Tues and Wed will be the qualifying race, the last chance qualifier for those hoping to get a spot in the unlimited race, and a time trial for starting position for those already in. That should be two days of pretty exciting racing. Thurs will be tech and contingency for the unlimited race, and Fri is the big race.

This has been a looong and time consuming build, but it's built right. We are all exhausted from all the time that has been spent. I've been driving to Fullerton the last 4 weekends to work on it. Talk about last minute. But, the motor runs and most things are finished. We have some more wiring to do, and a little bump stop setting, and need to do shock tuning with Biltstein when we get out there. Lot's of small misc things to do yet. We've had our share of set backs, but it's finally coming together. Hopefully, the fact that we're building an XJ which we're all so familiar will help with the lack of testing time that we'll have.

Very nice, glad we could help out...
Does the stock class race have trackers like the big boys?
I would like to track it while at work/home since some of us won't be making it to the race this year.
Or do we get zombie attack updates from chris in the chat section?
Chris do you think you could do us all a favor and just run 10ft off race course the whole time and have Bigfoot do play by play updates?

Yes, we'll have trackers. There will also be live chat during the race. Go to ultra4racing.com for coverage and info.

Last weekend work party in Fullerton:

Putting gas in it for the first time, that's 100 octane going into it. We'll run a mix of 91 and 100 octane.

They gave it hell, but in the end mechanical issues took them out of the race. They were not able to finish this time.

They will be running at Glen Helen near San Bernardino in late July (per what Richard told me via facebook).
I absolutely enjoyed my time at the hammers. That was the first time I have ever been out there let alone to the KOH event. I didn't get any wheelin' of my own in, but helping out with the race jeep was amazing. It totally brought me back to racing. Ever since we quit go-kart racing I haven't really wanted anything to do with any type of racing, but I think that all changed this last weekend.
Not knowing where my life will be come July is scary to me right now (graduating from CSUB in march maj: geology. Have/know of job?) but i'm definitely aiming to go to the next race to help out.
The track was the same as the unlimiteds with the exception of one part, since my knowledge of Johnson Valley is nil I couldn't tell you if they ran the waterfall or not.
I will post my pictures tomorrow when I'm on my desktop.
