Wheeling on Jack North, Clawhammer, Wreaking Ball, Dirty Luv, Sledgehammer, Fissure Mtn, and Outer Limits.

Beer, vodka, rum, scotch, tequila.

Big fires, even bigger explosions.

A drunk Marine getting seriously violated by a dog.

Great weather.

Lot's of visiting, lot's of laughing.

A Jeep getting pulled back to camp by a Toyota.

A broken power steering line, broken front axle shaft, and a motor that won't run on one cylinder.

Good times.

Meet up with Matt and Beka on 58 and Weed patch. (Thanks by the way would have been lost without you guys) got in late Friday to the meeting spot. Seemed if everyone had been having a good time so far. I would bet that alcohol was to be blamed for that lol. Got the kids set up for bed and set the wife and my bed up on top of the jeep. Meet some very nice people around the camp fire that night (sorry don’t remember any names) Sleeping on top of the jeep was great until the 20 mph winds kicked up. At that point had to keep the sleeping bags covered over our heads. If there was even a small opening the wind would inflate the whole sleeping bag with cold air! Lol but the stars were beautiful to look at for sure!

Got a very late start on Saturday a number of different problems with different rigs. But go on the trail I would say around 10:30-11:00. Headed out to see “Big Rock” It was a big rock… some interesting history on it which was cool. The trail itself wasn’t difficult for anyone there. I was the only one with a “possible problem”. Headed up a short hill which was all very loose sand. About half way up one of those 4x4 golf carts peaked over the ridge so I stopped to find out what way he was going to go. Bad idea to stop going up a hill in soft sand… even with 4 low and lockers I was just digging some nice holes. While I was backing up I slid off the side of the trail into even more loose sand. Even the stuff that looked like hard pack was nothing but soft stuff. So I ended up turning around and just had to head off the side of the trail until I got an actual trail and meet back up with the group on the other side of the hill.

I was kind of disappointed I couldn’t play with the big boys due to my tires being too small but completely understand, so I ordered some 35’s today. All in all it was fun and great group of people. Can’t wait for the ball and chain run!!!

So I believe Richard said it all pretty well...But I guess I will throw in my two cents...Friday was drunk fest. Dirty LJ, JeepDeere and myself each finished a bottle of rum. I think I ran into the problem when I broke into the fourth bottle...At any rate I have nothing to say about Saturday at all  So on to Sunday...Roger, Matt, Mark, GJ, Bekka, JeepDeere and myself decided that we would do the "moderately easy" and "quick" Claw Hammer Run. Well it was a gorgeous day, slightly overcast, just about perfect weather (unless you were Bekka :stirPot: ) and we were having some fun. The Toyotas and the Jeeps coming together in harmony :Thumb: and then we got about half way up. So here comes the "fun"... Waterfall like spot, Roger and his Toyota up and over...Mark and his Toyota got a little help but up and over...GJ and Matt had some interesting opposing opinions on spotting somewhere in here :stirPot: but GJ up and over, even though the Toyotas really wanted to "help" and then comes JeepDeere. So JeepDeere is running a standard tranny and working his way up, he tends to have a little trouble with keeping the RPMs where they need to be so we get a few re-starts...then its decided that if he can work the clutch and the break and "feather" the clutch some it will stay running and he can go nice and easy right on over. Great theory but this is not how this turned out. So the feathering turns into my foot slipped and all of a sudden he is channeling Crazy Sammy and "mobs" it right on over with a large pop a small crack and a ton of WOW THAT DID NOT SOUND GOODs! So now we get the dubious task of getting it over and trying to find something that resembles a flat spot to do a little "trail fix" - lots of quotes because I was able to so expand my off roading vocab ;) Anyway the winches straps and snatches come out...wait this is reminding me of Saturday night and Josh renaming some trails...ok so wench #1 does not quite get it. We are joined by a group of three jeeps from Iowa, Texas and New York (at least that is what their plates said) and we start in with another winch. Not working either and then GJ remembers he got a free snatch...ok maybe there was another word there...oh yeah snatch block and the moving of JeepDeere commences. We get to what was as flat as could be had on the trail and Matt is able to do a trail fix with the help of Roger, Mark, GJ and Justin. Bekka got to Tango with the family and I did my best to stay out of the way. We let the 3 out of state people pass, the guys get the "broken knuckle" out and we are back on the road (sort of). We now get to have Mark take the lead GJ follow and then Roger towing Justin. Well we then have another spot so we begin a "daisy chain" (I say we but at this point I am only taking pics and video) and start the slow process of making it the rest of the way out. I will say that we were lucky to be with some of the most PATIENT people in the world and I have so fallen in love with our Infectious family. The chain made it up the hill. JeepDeere made it back to camp and we started home. The trip home, however is a whole different kind of run report and definately a FAIL (except we are safe and did not take out anyone else except ourselves). So all in all it was a great weekend, I just have to remember not to start on bottle 2 of rum :celebrate: Thank you all, it was great meeting everyone, reconnecting with others and knowing that we have a great family of offroaders that we have found a home with. :drinks: Oh yeah and I have pics too, those will be out shortly...

Great video, Chris.

Even though I never drove my buggy I had a great time. Fri morning my buggy was only running on 5 cylinders, and after messing with it a little it was decided to not run SOS on Fri. So, we had a leisurely run up Jackhammer and down Jack North, then down Chocolate Thunder. We played around awhile on Becca's Crack, but no one was able to make it. Late afternoon we decided to check out a brand new trail called Dirty Luv, named after a rusted out Luv pickup at the bottom, but part way up it was getting very steep and tough, and getting dark, so we decided it would be best to turn around. Sat we went back and ran Dirty Luv, undoubtedly one of the toughest trails in JV right now, then went down Clawhammer and had lunch with the group coming up Claw, then we ran up a side canyon on Claw, ran over Fissure Mtn Trail (fabulous views) and then down Sledgehammer. When we got back to camp Henry and DD had finally made it out there, and they wanted to run something, so we went and ran Wrecking Ball. We got back to camp close to 8:00 and dinner was in full swing, so we ate and drank and laughed and told stories around the campfire, and watched a dog do it to a drunk Marine (way to f'ing funny). Sunday part of the group ran Clawhammer and we ran Outer Limits. Pretty nice trip.

We'll do it again next year.

Friday I took a group of first timers up Big Johnson, got back to camp and drank all night.

Saturday tailed the Claw run and let a kid from the east coast bash my rig up the trail. Afterwards made a solo run up Chocolate Thunder, ripped my traction bar off, back to camp to cook dinner and then in bed by 9pm.

Sunday packed up early and high tailed it directly to a job - a client had called with an emergency, and money most definitely trumps wheeling while I'm trying to pay for a KOH car. =)

Home around midnight Sunday, back at work 5am Monday. I still haven't unpacked the truck, put the jeep away, etc..

My first time out with the Infectious kids - it certainly will not be my last. Good peeps you have here.

-Cal

Hmmm......I have a push rod that looks like a pretzel, well maybe not a pretzel, but a badly bent up straw. Most likely the cam lobe went flat and the extra clearance allowed the push rod to bounce around and get caught on the edge of the lifter.

Time for some upgrades and more horsepower.
